Just got off the phone with my grandma. We were chatting away and she ended the call quite suddenly. The Michigan St./Illinois game was getting close and Green had just gotten hurt so she needed to go. She's great.
In other basketball news...Riley Stetler had a really great game on Sunday afternoon. God used the testimony time at church on Sunday morning to remind me that I really needed to be praying for Riley and his sweet spirit. I have never asked God to help my kids win or play well, but I felt like it was the right prayer for this week...not because I wanted my kid's team to win or because I wanted Riley to be the star...but because he needed to feel a little better about himself. I wanted him to feel like he was making progress. He scored 8 points, had a couple of rebounds, a couple of assists, and played very good defense. He was resting on the bench during the third quarter and as I watched him I was suddenly able to see him as God sees him for a brief moment. I love my son deeply and unconditionally, but God's love for him is so far beyond any love I could ever have for him. I sat in the stands trying to wipe away tears discretely, thanking God for loving my boy and for the gift of a good game.
Cora is recovering from her sinus infection and I am now on Zithromax for bronchitis. I fought it for 7 days. I was sure it would eventually go away. It didn't. I'm slowing starting to feel better tonight...just ready to have all of my energy back for my family. All the boys in the house are healthy as can be!
Grandparent info...Trey received a nice award today. Every year Kenyon and MVNU combine to host a Martin Luther King Jr. Day breakfast. It's become a nice community tradition. Children from area schools can submit art projects about Dr. King. Trey's project won!
Now I'm going to go watch the end of that Michigan St/Illinois game. Unlike Grandma, I was able to pause it when she called. I love DVR.
