My sweet, sweet Evan. This little man brings so much joy into our home. Last night was a perfect example of how "Mr. Adorable" makes us smile...
Two days ago Evan announced that he was planning a Valentine's party for our family. He disappeared into the basement for at least an hour, only calling up to ask Trey for help once. He came back up to the living room and told us that everything was ready and the party would be the next night after dinner. He was very serious about all of this. So, last night after dinner Evan made sure we all had a ticket to the party and sent us to get on our "fancy clothes." He had already changed into a button down shirt and dress pants. I was extremely impressed with how quickly his older brothers cooperated and put on some nice clothes for the party. I let Cora pick out a party tutu while Eric sent Evan to pick out a tie for daddy to wear to the party. A few minutes later we were all dressed and ready. Evan lined us up and led the way to the basement. He had set up centers and we moved from one to the next as a group. The activities for the night included making Valentines, writing nice words about other family members, a Valentine's Day story from the library, and a dance party. It was an evening I hope I never forget. After the party Evan announced that he would be cleaning up the party mess alone since the whole thing was his idea. Pop Pop...he reminded me so much of you last night! He was ready to organize some serious family fun!
Evan is growing and changing very quickly right now and it's a lot of fun to watch. I am SO glad I waited a year to send him to kindergarten. With his summer birthday, he was just too young to send last year. His fine motor skills have grown by leaps and bounds over the last month and he has gained so much confidence and maturity. His teachers have given him some very exciting experiences this year at preschool and they spend a lot of time encouraging him as an older leader in his class. Now I feel confident that he's really ready for kindergarten next year.
Evan Stetler...I love you so much!
