We've almost completed our first week of Stetler Family Summer Camp! I saw the idea on a website and decided it could be a lot of fun to have our own camp here at home. The boys have completely bought into the idea and they've been super cute about it all week. It's really nothing complicated...they gave their bedroom a cabin name, the kitchen is now the Mess Hall, and the bathroom is the Shower House. We have a main activity every day and a set of camp chores. It's been a good way to get them started on some habits, like making their beds, that I should have started a long time ago. The schedule for the day is posted on the refrigerator, it's a very flexible schedule because summer should be flexible. For our first full week of summer vacation we've enjoyed a magic show at the library, a picnic at the park, time in Columbus with friends, and the older two are enjoying basketball camp. It's been fun, but I am really tired. Eric's work schedule has been very demanding over the last two weeks and I've been a single mom for almost a full two weeks now. Luckily, next week is looking a little calmer for him and then we leave for VACATION!!!

There will be several big decisions to make once we get to Topsail...first, which type of fudge to buy first. Then there's always the difficult decision of which drink I should ask my dad to mix up after dinner. And then one must always carefully consider chair placement on the beach after thoroughly studying the tide. No one likes wet beach towels, they are heavy to carry the few feet back up to the house when they are wet and sandy. The biggest decision will be which swimsuit Cora should wear for the day...the ruffled bikini, the one piece tutu, the bikini top with board shorts...I'm so ready to drive south and park myself in Mayberry for two weeks. The boys told me they are excited for the ocean and Bubble Teas. Bubble teas are slushies with gummy bears in them that you drink through a big straw. The same store that sells Bubble Teas has Ladies Night with free Margaritas. Then there's the fish tacos at the Mexican restaurant. I could go on and on. I absolutely love going back to the same spot every year...the memories and traditions are such a good thing.

Before we leave we need to finish basketball camp, attend a friend's wedding, celebrate Evan's birthday with friends, spend five mornings at VBS, and PACK. Should be a fun week!
