It's so good that I'm married to someone so different than me. My life would be incredibly boring if my husband and I had the same personality. You see, I love schedules. Love them. Live for them. And, often that is a really good thing when you have small children. I love to have fun with my kids, but I plan the fun in advance. All of this is okay, but how boring would life at our house be without at least a little spontaneity? On Wednesday Eric came to me at noon and said that some of our friends from college were meeting for lunch on Thursday afternoon in Mt. Vernon. He wanted to check and see if it would work for us to join them. I was planning on getting my haircut on Thursday and the boys had swimming lessons. So, I told him it wouldn't work. He very nicely said that he thought we should still go AND that we should throw the kids in the van, grab the camper and go camping before we met them since he didn't have to work on Wednesday night. My mind starts racing at this point, knowing he's right, knowing that this is the stuff family summer memories are made, knowing I need to throw my plans out the window. So three hours later we left. We grabbed some clothes, threw together some food, made a quick stop at the grocery, and hit the road. Unfortunately in the quick dash out of the house, I forgot to grab the camera. An hour later we pulled into an absolutely beautiful campgrounds. It was so pretty and clean. There was a massive playground for the kids, complete with a huge pirate ship to run around on, and a very nice pond for swimming. Because it was the middle of the week, the place was almost empty. We had a beautiful wooded camp site. When we got there we set up the camper and built a fire. We roasted corn from the gardens and veggie dogs on the fire for dinner. Then we took the kids swimming and came back to the camp fire for s'mores. The boys stayed up late catching fire flies and we all fell asleep together at 9:00. The boys slept well and we hit the playground early the next morning after breakfast. They swam a little more before we packed up to meet our friends. Lunch with Mark, the Smith's and the Peterson's was very relaxing and it was good to see people we love so much, especially the Smith's new baby Judah! I really can't believe I don't have pictures, it was really the highlight of the summer so far. On Thursday we leave for more camping, this time at Deer Creek. We can't wait!
