On Wednesday Eric and I took the boys and a friend of Riley's from kindergarten to Darby Creek Metro Park. I really can't believe it's taken us this long to discover this beautiful park. The weather was perfect, a nice break from the heat with a high of 79 degrees. The boys were able to be as wild as they wanted all day long. I really can't imagine a better day. Eric's schedule has been a lot of fun this summer. Because he works second shift, he is able to spend all day with us. We'll be planning a trip back to this park very soon! We finished off this great day with another picnic at Schiller Park. Eric left for work and the boys and I met some of our friends from Grandview for dinner there. What a beautiful day!

Tonight we had another friend from kindergarten over for dinner with his mom. I had gotten to know her some during the school year and we were really excited to spend some more time with them tonight. The boys played well in the back yard together and we were able to sit and talk for a few hours. She really needed someone to talk to, she needed to tell her story. She and her son moved here from Queens three years ago. She is alone here, and she's a fighter. Her story is one of the saddest I've ever heard. My heart broke as I listened, praying the entire time that God would use me in her life. Tonight I didn't say much at all, I just wanted to listen. Maybe there will be time to talk later, but not now. She wants to garden with us, she loves to garden. I think her and her son need to see the hope of new life and I think that would be a great way for us to begin a relationship with them. The first time I was really able to sit and talk with her was in May. I came home that night and told Eric that I knew without a doubt that my time with her was planned by God. That was confirmed tonight. What a gift.

I love divine appointments like that. It is such a privilege. I hope you continue to enjoy this friendship.

Your trip to the park looked like so much fun.
