Long day...it's chilly again. My allergies are rough this time of year, just dragging all day. Now the problem is that I drank so much coffee to make it through the evening and get my work done that I'm not tired now.
My two older boys are in big trouble. They know the bedtime routine, they are expected to do the same thing every night. We run a pretty tight ship around here in the evenings because Eric works second shift and I handle bed time alone most nights. Anyway, they are expected to read books quietly in their room while I put Evan to bed. They usually do an excellent job at this. Tonight they were quiet as usual, but when I went to get them after Evan was asleep I found them quickly stuffing something under their bunk beds. They had been looking at a book, a library book, and had decided that the pictures were too scary. So, they ripped them out and stuffed them under the bed. You can imagine my reaction. Tomorrow we will be making a trip to the library so they can explain what they did, apologize, and I'll pay for the book. They've lost their favorite toys for quite some time and more consequences will be discussed when Eric is home tomorrow. So frustrating. I'm not sure why they thought this would be acceptable, it seems really out of character for them (especially Riley). You should have seen the little six year old repenting when he was caught! He became hysterical when I told him he would be apologizing to the librarian tomorrow.
Not much else going on around...just waiting for the stimulus check to hit the bank account. Seriously, gas prices and grocery prices are really making life difficult. When your budget is already beyond tight...and then I read this and realize maybe all I need is a bit of perspective.
