The last two years have been full of transition for our family...a new baby, a big move, Eric's job switch, a new school for the boys...all of it has been a little overwhelming at times. We are beginning to feel like we have settled into our "normal" life again, which feels really good. We have time now to remember who we are and what we are passionate about.

This morning was a big step back in that direction for our family. Despite the chaos of the morning...and it was extreme chaos for some reason, we made it to the Mount Vernon farmer's market. It's almost embarrassing to admit that this is the first time we have been since we moved here. It was a wonderful farm market, every bit as big as the Clintonville market in Columbus, but without the extremely overwhelming crowd and confusion. There was a ton of variety and we were even able to meet a few farmers. I was very happy with the prices. The next big step will be when we are finally able to grow more for ourselves. We do have some beautiful onions in our garden right now!

Food and meal planning has been a little frustrating lately because of the size of our family. Our grocery bill has been growing rapidly and I'm really trying to find ways to get it under control. After the farmer's market we went to the grocery store and I was amazed at the total. I know that this will only become a bigger issue, one day I will have three teenage boys in this house. We don't buy any junk food and we don't waste anything we buy. It just takes a lot of food to feed this crew. It does seem like summer meals are more expensive because we eat more meat on the grill. The salmon for dinner tonight wasn't cheap. If anyone who reads this has any great cost saving ideas, please share.
