Trey Stetler, I love you so much sweet boy. Your tender little spirit makes me smile and at times breaks my heart. These seven years have gone so quickly...if I could just find a way to press the pause button and keep you seven for a few more years. You bring me and your dad so much joy each day. That smile you have...it's simply beautiful. Your tears come often because you feel so much...so much compassion already fills your heart and I wonder how a seven year old can empathize with others so easily. Just last night you were willing to sacrifice your plans that you had been looking forward to all day so that your daddy wasn't alone.
You're silly too. I love your silly little self (just wish you knew how to turn it off at the dinner table sometimes!). You are creative, always coming up with a new game or idea for your brothers. You are kind and you make friends easily because other kids enjoy being with someone that treats them with love and respect. Your teacher is proud of you, which of course makes mom and dad proud of you as well. You are smart...freaky smart sometimes. The way you make numbers work in your head is mind boggling and we are excited that your school is finding ways to challenge you and encourage the gifts you have academically.
Seven years ago today, at just about this time in the morning, Dr. Russ decided that I had been in labor long enough and I was taken in for a c-section. I remember feeling an overwhelming sense of relief because of what your big brother had put me through. A few minutes later I heard you cry. It was a beautiful sound, you were a beautiful baby. You are still my baby, even at age seven. Happy Birthday Trey Ryan.
