I LOVE this time of year. March Madness gets me through the end of a long winter. The Buckeyes have picked a great time to peak. Riley's Valentine date with mom and dad was tickets to the last regular season game. The Buckeyes pulled it out at the buzzer. It was the best defensive game I've seen in a very long time. They've looked great in the Big Ten Tournament, especially in today's big win against Michigan State. A win against Michigan State always feels so good. I love Izzo, but I hate getting beat by him. A win tomorrow could secure a nice seed in the Big Dance.
I have really enjoyed watching this team play. Evan Turner is amazing to watch, and Buford has come to life with Lighty injured. Lauderdale seems to have gotten a lot more energy during the last few games, although no one could play with as much energy as PJ Hill. The player that has really found a place in my heart though is BJ Mullens. We find ourselves cheering a little louder for BJ and he is beginning to play with more confidence each game. BJ grew up here in the Bottoms, in fact one of his many homes was on the block just behind our house. Like most kids who grow up in Franklinton, his life was far from easy. The Dispatch just wrote a great story about his life. Check it out here. BJ will play in the NBA, I just hope not next year because I would really like to see him develop more as a player at OSU first. But, he will play. He wants to give back to this neighborhood as a NBA player, which could be a very good thing for the kids in the Bottoms. We're cheering for you loudly here on Dakota Ave, BJ! Go Bucks!
Hi there. Our neighbor has started a blog that I thought you would enjoy reading. Check it out. http://givingbacktohim.blogspot.com
