One more visit with Dr. Turek, finally good news. It looks as though we are on the road to recovery. He's still on breathing treatments, but his lungs are clearing up and his ear infection is beginning to go away as well.
I've spent a lot of time over the last few weeks at Lower Lights Christian Health Center. They have provided our family with excellent care and I am so extremely thankful. I've met a lot of people in the waiting room, listened to some of their stories. I've watched as the doctors, nurses, and office staff have responded to each of us with compassion despite our social class or income. Every time I walk down the hall I pass the doctors' degrees on the wall. The same degrees from OSU I saw at our suburban doctor's office. Before I go any further let me explain that I am not judging family physicians who choose to work in traditional office settings. They have worked hard and are committed to helping others as well. I am aware that they work extremely long and difficult hours to earn a living. But, Dr. Dana and Dr. Turek have the potential to earn a large salary, to be "successful." They have choosen instead to follow a different road, a different calling. They are making a difference in the lives of families in Franklinton in a huge way. I am beyond impressed. "Success" means something different to them.
Thank you all for your comments, voicemails, and emails over the last two weeks. Thank you for coming to our home to pray over our baby. Thank you for flowers, meals, and babysitting. Your encouragement and support was a gift to our family during this time.
