Last night we went with some others from our community over to Joy, Carlos, and Jennifer's apartment to pray with them. Joy whispered to me, "this all still seems like a bad dream." I'm sure it does, I had to remind myself that Luis wasn't going to run down the stairs several times. Sitting there praying with them, with my community, and surrounded by pictures of Luis was a really beautiful experience for Eric and I. I hope it was for Carlos, Joy, and Jennifer as well.

18 weeks today...
Fetal Development:
Our little one is nearly half a pound now and very human looking. Pads are forming on the fingertips and toes, and the eyes are looking forward rather than out the sides of the head. Meconium, the baby's first bowel movement, is accumulating within the bowel. If your baby is a boy, his prostate gland is beginning to develop.

If you notice your belly making jerky movements in sync, don't panic; your baby may have the hiccups!

Kerri - your fetal development paragraph really made me smile. Our E was the queen of hiccups. I used to entertain other teachers in the lounge as we all watched my tummy hiccup. After she was born all we had to do was get her giggling and the hiccups would come right back.

I'll bet she's glad she outgrew that! (and that I don't use her full name here!) :)

Still praying for Luis' family. - love, MA Blogger

Hmmm...Life as a park ranger. Interesting.

Braden got the hiccups with great frequency, and it was hilarious. Reading that brought back happy memories. Braden turned eight months yesterday. He's 2/3 of a year!

Kerri. I don't know if you have heard from Kelly or not, but I hope you know we have been with you in prayer during this time... and not just prayer, but tears and hurt and pain. We are far away, but Scripture rings true as we "mourn as you mourn". We are one Body. Times like these make it even more clear. We love you all and wish we could be more present during this time.

Kerri, know that I have been praying for you and Eric as well as Luis' family. I am praying for you in your unique place in this family's life. It's a long haul, but thanks be to God He carries us as we carry one another's burdens. If you ever need to talk let me know. I had a hard time really grieving when Austin F. died because I knew mom and dad were hurting so much more than I could comprehend.

Just my two cents with tears in my eyes.
