Riley's class had a party for their parents after school today. It was a poetry party and it was awesome! The kids had worked so hard memorizing poems and preparing for the day. They had decorated the classroom and had all kinds of snacks and treats prepared for us. They took turns, individually and in groups, reciting poems. We even had an intermission with games and activities. The kids had so much fun. They were all in their pajamas and they were so proud of all they had done to get ready for this day. When it was over I said to Eric that we really needed to soak all of this in...in a few years he will probably think this kind of thing is stupid or embarrassing. I'm really glad he's still my little kid. I want to embrace every stage of his development...even the preteen years that I know will be a major change for us. But for now, I'm loving 4th grade innocence.
My kids are so lucky to attend such a great school. Their teachers are constantly going above and beyond with events like this poetry party. The atmosphere is so relaxed and the kids seem to really love to learn. So thankful for special teachers like Mrs. Wolfe and Ms. Waugh.
