Cora found herself in the middle of a Batman battle last night and it didn't end well. She split her chin and so we spent the next four hours in the ER. She's all glued up with Dermabond and ready to go again today. Seriously, that child is never still. Trey's middle tooth was also involved in the collision and we will be heading to the dentist after school to let him take a look at the chip. Never a dull moment around here!

I know this sounds impossible, but the time in the ER with Cora was almost fun. She is just that kind of kid...she lives to have fun and meet new people. She wasn't in any pain, thankfully, and she loved all the attention she received from the staff at the hospital. This would be a good time to interject that I have been extremely impressed with Knox Community Hospital and I have no idea why they have a bad reputation. Anyway...She managed to score three new toys from people she met last night! Plus, Sing Off was on tv and she was shaking her little butt all over the waiting room. The later it got, the sillier she got. We were out WAY past bedtime.

I made it to bed by midnight and my sweet husband was up at 6:30 packing lunches, making breakfast, and getting the boys ready for school while Cora and I slept in until 8:30. He is my partner, and in an email this morning I told him that I really can't imagine raising these rugrats with anyone but him.

Doug Rex lost his partner on Sunday. Caleb, Lauren, and Audrey lost their mommy. Jenn and Michelle lost their sister and best friend. Rev. and Mrs. Prater lost their baby girl. Doug will now be raising their three children without his partner. I was there the day they were married. I remember her face beaming as we greeted them outside in the receiving line. Melissa Prater Rex was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She was kind, compassionate, and she loved Jesus more than anything else. I never knew her as a mommy, but I can only imagine that she was an incredible mother to her three beautiful children. My heart aches for them today.

ER trips are annoying and dentist bills are expensive. Two mortgages are nerve wracking and sometimes the daily grind is exhausting. But, very few of us have ever experienced the kind of pain and grief that Doug must be experiencing today. Lord, may Your peace fill his heart today. Grant him a strength that can only come from You as he raises his babies now without their mommy.
