It's back school week. Riley and Trey start at their new school on Tuesday and Evan will start preschool for the first time on Thursday. I think I'm more nervous about it than they are. I get a little sick to my stomach every time I think about taking them on Tuesday. I know they will be fine and adjust quickly, but at the same time it makes me so sad to think about them alone at a new school and missing everything that was so comfortable and familiar for them at Westgate. I've been praying a lot that they will get off to a good start and feel like this new school is their school quickly. I've been praying for their teachers as well, that they will recognize that each child learns differently and that my boys will have a warm and caring environment to learn this year.
I am ready for fall and the structure that comes back to our lives this time of year. Our home has felt a little chaotic since March when Cora was born. Then we moved in June and have spent the summer trying to get settled. I think starting school is the last piece that needs to fall into place for us to feel like this new place is home. Plus, Cora will finally get some quiet time to nap!
Most people make New Year's resolutions, I tend to make New School Year resolutions, and just like New Year's resolutions, they are extremely hard to keep for an entire school year. But, here are my goals to make this school year go smoothly...
1. Be prepared for lunch boxes, no last minute packing and panicking because I'm not ready with good lunch box options.
2. Have homework done before dinner.
3. Have clothes for the week picked out on Sunday night. This is actually one thing I did consistently last year that helped a lot.
4. Have a place for each child's school paperwork (permission slips, report cards, etc.) that need filled out and sent back in to school. I'm terrible at keeping stuff like this organized. I need a system. Any suggestions??
5. Make the boys be more responsible for their back packs, coats, gloves, boots, etc. after school. So tired of the after school clutter!
6. Pay preschool tuition early so it doesn't sneak up on me.
If you have any suggestions that have worked at your house for any of these, please share!
We just got a new camera after our old one broke, so I'll be posting first day of school pictures soon.
