We're home.
For the first time in twelve years I've unpacked my china. It's hard to explain why this is such a big deal for me, but it is. It's a really big deal. I've always moved my china with me, from house to house. It just seemed safer to leave it wrapped in bubble wrap for the next move. Now we're home and it's unpacked and ready to be used on Sunday afternoons.
We've broken in our new kitchen pretty well. We bought 16 quarts of strawberries from the Amish. Those 16 quarts made one strawberry pie, two loves of strawberry bread, and bunch of strawberry jam that was canned last night. We've enjoyed a lot of fresh strawberries and frozen the rest for winter. We love our new kitchen, so much counter space which made canning a much easier process. We love this house, all of it. It just fits our family.
Eric has started a trail back through the woods. The woods are so thick that it requires a trail for the kids to play back there through the summer. It's beautiful, simply beautiful. I really can't believe this is my yard. The boys are doing well, but as I suspected would be the case, they are a little overwhelmed by the lack of limits outside. They will have to be taught how to play outside this summer. If you haven't lived in Franklinton, I'm sure it's hard for you to understand why my boys don't know how to play outside without a parent guiding them. If you have lived in Franklinton, or have even visited often, then you understand completely. I guess I'm dealing with some serious guilt for the last three years...but it's over and we'll move forward.
Right now they are biking on the trail with their dad. Last night we all went together. They love the trail and it's a good way to wear them out before bed. They also are really into catching all the bugs they are finding in our yard. However, we've had to make a new rule...the bug house stays outside. Today they brought it in and while they weren't looking Evan released all the bugs IN our house.
We are completely unpacked and we're taking a break on projects until we get home from vacation. We leave for the beach on Friday and we want to just enjoy the house until we leave. There will be plenty of time for projects when we get home. The garden is in, it's really an experiment this year. Obviously we are very behind where we were last year this time. It's just an accomplishment to even have a few things in the ground.
It's time to feed a fussy baby. I think she is starting to teeth already. All my boys had teeth by four months. She three months now and is a little grumpy, chewing on her hands, and drooling like crazy.
I had so much fun today. Thanks.
