First...this is very good news. Take the time to see the answers to our prayers for Alvin in Liberia. Praise the Lord that the President agreed to move forward on Alvin's adoption! Many prayers still need to be answered to get him out of the country safely next week and in decent health to handle the travel.

It's been a good week at our house, at least a much improved week. The trip to NY gave me the fresh start I needed for this week. I still had times where I felt rough, but I had more energy to fight through it. Also, my friends and family have been a tremendous help and are a huge reason I've been able to get myself together this week. Grandpa and Grandma Stetler, along with Eric's parents, took very good care of us over the weekend. They gave me the rest I needed and let me stay out of the kitchen! My mom has cooked for me, taken us out to eat, and entertained my kids when I didn't have the energy to do much more than lay on her couch. Our friends have brought over some amazing meals that fed us well and let us know we were loved. Thanks so much Kelsie, Lianne, Shoshanah, and Mandy for your thoughtfulness. I look forward to repaying the favor soon!

The hardest part of this first trimester has been the fear I have of my kitchen. I feel sick as soon as I get to the bottom step and round the corner toward the kitchen. All the produce just waiting to be used. A big step this week was the evening I spent in the garden. I harvested all of the carrots, which may just be our most improved crop this year. I also harvested potatoes, picked another batch of green beans, a few peppers, and so many tomatoes. I've been able to cook with some of it, but not the way I normally would. I only want winter food right now...chicken noodles, pot roast, mashed potatoes. I haven't been able to handle tomatoes or eggplant yet, so I'm planning on freezing tomatoes tomorrow and hopefully making eggplant soup this week to freeze for winter. We wait for this time all year, it's a little disappointing. But, if I can get it together enough to preserve it, we will enjoy it this winter. By the time I get to the second trimester I'm always ready to eat anything and everything!

Now it's time to start getting ready for our weekend camping trip. We'll get ready all week for three nights of tent camping. We'll be able to celebrate Riley's 8th birthday on Sunday and spend time with good friends on Sunday night. We'll be camping at Rustic Knolls in Mt. Vernon, and I'm really looking forward to it. Our trip in July was a one night trial run. We were able to think about what else we need for successful tent camping, and I think we'll really be ready this time. Should be fun!

A quick update on Nana...we don't know anything yet. However, we are hearing good things out of Liberia right now and we are hopeful that things are moving slowly toward the reopening of adoptions.

A few dishes need done, and I'm off to bed early.
