It's very, very quiet here tonight. Eric is at work and the kids are at their grandparents. It's so strange. But, I still did need to feed the chickens when I got home tonight. Good thing because I get a little lost if I don't have someone to take care of! I thought I'd take a few minutes since it's so quiet to review a few of the products we have tried out so far in our effort to reduce our "throw away" expenses that I mentioned a couple posts ago.
First, the Laptop Lunchboxes have been wonderful. The kids love them and they are so easy to pack. I've been able to pack some things I've never been able to put in a lunchbox before, like maple syrup. My attempt at packing syrup before made a huge mess in the cafeteria and completely embarrassed my seven year old.
As for the overnight pullups, not as successful. They work fine for my two year old that only has an accident once a month or so. He's almost always dry in the morning and if he does have an accident it's minor. However, they have not worked at all for my five year old. He pees right through them and is very uncomfortable when he wakes up in the morning. Plus, I have to change the sheets, which is really awful on the top bunk every day. So, I've got him in the disposable pullups at bedtime again. Anyone have any suggestions?
Cloth napkins are no problem and I haven't missed our paper napkins a bit.
I ordered the reusable papertowels, but they haven't arrived. I need to follow up on that tonight. I haven't ordered the sandwich bags yet, but I'm going to do that tonight as well. I think we will really use them a lot and be able to completely eliminate the baggies.
I'm going to tell the chickens goodnight and clean up the house a bit. No one will be here in the morning to destroy it!
hey kerri,
you have tried this already, or think this is gross. but when i was little, i had to wear this plastic elastic "underwear" to bed over my regular underwear. and, i'm not sure where she got them but i feel like the regular underwear were a little thicker than normal in the crotch area, a little bit like a cloth diaper. i don't know if something like that would work for you guys.
