This is one reason I really love living in Grandview...people know each other and care about each other in this small little neighborhood. One thing that always brings this community together is it's children and it's schools. So, tomorrow we'll gather with our neighbors to pray for Luis and his family. Any of you are welcome to join us at our house at 6:30 to pray and then we'll walk up the street to the school to join others from Grandview. This email was forwarded to me from my friend Analisa this morning and it has been sent around our neighborhood by now...
This is Kerri’s neighbor who is very very sick at Children’s Hospital right now.
Dear K-6 Families,
I have some further information to share with you about Luis Jones-Pasadas.
Andi Thomas has been with Joy throughout this devastating illness. She sent me an email and I would like to share part of it with you. Here is what she said:
"We are asking for everyones continued prayers. Although the doctors are not being hopeful at all, Joy knows that God has the final say in this. This family needs all the support possible. Joy and her family welcome anyone to come visit. All support and prayers is very appreciated. Luis is a fighter and we know he is fighting this."
Also, Teresa ("Tree") Wernick, 291-0508, is coordinating meals for the family. She is encouraging people to take food to them at the hospital so they don't have to leave the waiting room to go to the cafeteria.
A candlelight vigil is planned for immediately after the parent meeting tomorrow night. Please feel free to come whether or not you plan to attend the meeting. The meeting is planned for 6:30 p.m. with the vigil expected to start about 7:30 p.m.
We would also like to set up luminaries along Stevenson sidewalk, so if you are able to bring a couple of luminaries made of milk jugs please do so.
We will be collecting donations at the meeting and vigil. A fund is being set up to help cover the medical expenses of Luis’ illness. Please make your checks out to Grandview K-6 PTO.
Information will be passed out at the meeting, to help you process this situation with your children. If you want some information sooner, you can check out these web sites: this page has a few articles about death: http://www.aap.org/healthtopics/death.cfm and/or this one (which helps when speaking with kids about disasters but has a few tools we can use this week): http://www.aap.org/healthtopics/terrorism.cfm
