Riley has always liked to cook and lately Trey has been a little interested too. So, for Christmas Eric and I bought Pretend Soup, a vegetarian cookbook for preschoolers, for them. On the first page of each recipe it is written out like a normal recipe, but on the second page it's all pictures so that Riley can "read" it by himself. Yesterday I asked Riley what he wanted for breakfast and he went to his cookbook and said he was making his own breakfast. Trey was still in bed, so the two of us made popovers with jam. Today they both woke up early and I was hoping they'd be happy with a bowl of Cheerios and banana. Instead the three of us made strawberry muffins at 6:15. It actually went very well and they eat well because they made it. While I was cleaning up breakfast I had visions of my boys becoming chefs at a Cameron Mitchell restaurant and Eric and I coming in for dinner every Friday night...
Today is my mom's birthday. We'll be having dinner with them to celebrate. My mom is more than my mom, she's my friend. I love just hanging out with her, especially those rare times we get to go to dinner or a movie without the kids. She gives of herself to the p0int of exhaustion for the rest of us. The last four years have been really difficult for her and my dad, but she has demonstrated a strength through all of it that has been amazing. She loves us unconditionally and defends us when no one else would. Everyone needs someone like that in their lives. I love you mom!! Happy Birthday!!
I went to a movie with my friend Analisa yesterday. The movie was okay, but the best part was that it's the first time we've hung out without our kids. It's good to have friends.
We leave today for Castaway Bay with Eric's family. It's our Christmas celebration with them. I'm really looking forward to it, the boys can't wait to go swimming. It's usually the only time during the year that we are all together for any length of time.
The boys are about to beat the crap out of each other, I better get them out of the house before someone gets hurt...but one last thing...
Week 16:
Fetal Development:
![]() | If you haven't already, you may begin to feel movement as the baby's bones harden. If you are somewhat overweight, have a thick uterus, and/or if this is your first pregnancy, you may not be feeling baby yet or feeling baby regularly. Don't panic! You will soon. The legs are now longer than the arms, and s/he is moving those arms and legs frequently, especially since there's still lots of room to move within the uterus. Fingernails and toenails are growing too. In fact, some babies need their nails clipped right after birth! |
i was suppose to go to castaway bay for new year's, but there was a change of plans. i leave on wednesday and i better see you more than just tuesday night before i go.
