My first appointment was yesterday. The usual--three vials of blood, weigh in, blood pressure check, pee in a cup. My doctor's office has changed a little since I was pregnant last time and now you have to see the nurse practioner at your first appointment to go over your history and stuff like that. This was a little disappointing because I have a slight crush on my doctor, yes it's true, the secret is out. I was explaining this to Kelli yesterday and she thought it was weird. However, I've conducted some informal surveys of my own and found out that this is quite common among pregnant women. What you have to understand is that he is my hero. My first child birth experience (with a female doctor) was horrifying. I'll spare you the disgusting details, but it was really awful. Baby #2, in steps Dr. John Russ, my new doctor. His first words to me after reading the notes on Riley's delivery, "This will not happen to you again, I won't allow it." He quickly and easily removed Trey from my body 9 months later. It was basically pain free. There were nurses (again females) during that delivery who thought I didn't need a c-section and were encouraging me to "tough it out." He stepped in, told them to be quiet, and had Trey out in 15 minutes. He's arrogant and decisive and it's well known that the nurses at Grant Hospital don't like him. But arrogant and decisive become very enduring qualities during pregnancy and delivery. And even the nurses at Grant have to admit that he's the best. I say all this to explain why I'm excited that I go back on Monday for my first appointment with Dr. Russ. I think Eric finds the whole thing a little weird.

Well, you almost have me convinced to switch from my female doc, and with no pregnancy on the horizon! :)

In my opion, anyone capable of removing a child from a woman's body virtually painfree is practically worthy of saint-hood.

Is Columbus too far to drive for our next pregnancy????

ok... so not wierd. I feel the same way toward Canaan's pediatrician. He is awesome, funny and I look forward to every visit. He even deserves a little make up.
