I wrote out a long post on Monday, but it has disappeared. We'll give it one more try.
The boys and I are enjoying our time at the beach. The weather on Sunday and Monday was absolutely perfect and the boys had so much fun in the waves and the sand. Yesterday was a little windy for too much time in the sand, but we did end the day with a great water gun fight on the beach. I think my favorite time on the beach is in the evening. I think it was just a warm up fight compared to the kind we'll have once Eric and Mike get here. Today we spent the day at Broadway on the Beach in Myrtle and we're getting ready to leave to go out to dinner for my birthday. A little weird celebrating my birthday without Eric here, which just means we'll have to have another party next week when the entire family is here!
There is something healing about the salt air and salt water. I've spent a lot of time on the back porch rocking, just staring out in to the ocean.
This reminds me of a section in Moby Dick, by Herman Melville:
"Say, you are in the country; in some high land of lakes. Take almost any path you please, and ten to one it carries you down in a dale, and leaves you there by a pool in the stream. There is magic in it. Let the most absent-minded of men be plunged in his deepest reveries- stand that man on his legs, set his feet a-going, and he will infallibly lead you to water, if water there be in all that region. Yes, as every one knows, meditation and water are wedded forever."
