several thoughts on the last few days...

Friday night the Summit Street household came over for dinner(minus Josh, we missed you!). Good times. This needs to happen more often. I love them all.

Today Trey and I took a nap in my bed together. This is very uncommon because of my parenting philosophies. But this kid is so fun to cuddle with I couldn't resist. Jen hung out with Riley, I think they played 52 board games, while Trey and I were snoozing for over an hour. The little guy napped for an hour on his own and then woke up obviously distressed and still tired. I tried to get him to sleep back in his own bed, but he just wanted to love on his mommy. I suddenly remembered my friend Nancy from Bowling Green saying in reference to her little girl, "I didn't have her to let her sit and cry." Although I don't completely agree with her theory all the time, it did seem fitting for the moment and I loved every minute of my nap with fat baby. Before I fell asleep, while I was laying there holding him, I thought about how fast he will grow up. He'll never be 13 months old again. I tried to etch the moment into my memory so that when he is 22 years old, and doing God knows what, I'll be able to remember our nap together.

Tonight I sat at my table and watched Doug and Redcay play with my boys. The kids giggled the whole time. Thanks for coming over and making us smile. Eric wasn't even home for them to hang out with, which makes it even more special.

So, Doug's leaving on the 18th. I'm a little sad about this tonight. He's been a pretty consistent part of our family's life over the last two years. Now he has a one way ticket out of the country.

Get better mom. We miss running around Columbus with you.

just some thoughts before I go to bed tonight.

It just won't seem the same to drop in from time to time and not see the "bearded wonder" hanging out. He will be missed. Let him know our prayers go with him.
