Lately I had the desire to start reading again. I used to read all the time, it was my favorite hobby. But, a lot changes when you have kids. I used to spend my free time reading, shopping, going out with my husband, etc. Now I sleep. Free time equals sleep time. Now I'm really beginning to miss reading and the role it played in my life. So, I've started reading A New Kind of Christian by Brian McLaren. It has been somewhat eerie to see our journey over the last two years outlined in this book. I'm really enjoying it, especially because it is set in a fictional story. I love fiction. I comprehend and retain knowledge much better when it is set in a story.
Big news at the Pressley house--my cousin, his wife Chandra and their three children will be moving in with my parents while they get settled in Columbus. They are moving here from California. I know the house will be a little chaotic and crowded, but it's been a really rough week for my family and I think having my cousin and his family around will be a time of healing for my parents. We need each other. I used to be really close to my cousins but over the last five years it seems as though we have been absent from each others lives. I'm excited to begin building a relationship with them again.
Please pray for my parents and my brother.
Today I went shopping with my neighbor, Luis' mom, Joy. We have never really spent time together except in the backyard with the kids. We went thrift shopping and it was so much fun. We had a great time together and I really enjoyed hanging out with her. I was able to learn a lot about her life and share some of my life with her as well.
Tonight we are heading to Gallery 3131...
