I was really anxious for Eric to get home today so to pass time the boys and I spent the afternoon at the park down the street. While Riley was playing and Trey was napping I thought about a couple of things. First, how much I love summer. There was a great breeze today so, although it was hot, it felt great in the shade. Second, how funny it is that Americans think they need to own everything. The playground at the park is 50 times bigger than one we could ever own. Sure, we had to walk 10 minutes to get there, but the walk added to the enjoyment of the afternoon. We are trying to teach Riley this concept even though he's only two. We are borrowing books from the library, sharing the slide and swing behind our apartment complex with our neighbor Luis, and "visiting" the Wiggles toys at Target rather than taking them home with us. I'm not saying that Riley our family doesn't own its fair share of stuff, but I've just been thinking about how it might not all be necessary.
Eric's home! He smells like fish and sweat, but he's home! I love him so much.
